There’s a lot of demonizing going on of late. Politicians have recently demonized an entire voting block who oppose their agenda calling them a threat to democracy. Some people are building ministries on the demonization of fellow believers who hold a slightly different point of theology. Gossip is a preferred weapon in hell’s arsenal used to demonize friends and family with great success. Demonizing is everywhere.
At the root of the word “demonize” is the word “demon.” Demonization defines someone as a demon working at the bidding of Satan. It’s a stout charge. This is a deeper topic than just enslaved politicians or supposed theologians who demonize each other in order to solidify their base or expand their audience. All puppets are under the influence of their puppet master. The real demons are the ones who are pulling the strings behind the curtain of our cultural and theological theater. That is the place where the most significant spiritual warfare happens.
There are real demons at work in our world. It would surprise most Christians what a real demon looks like or how they function. The greatest work of a demon is conducted from the shadows of our interpretation of reality employing almost indiscernible pressure upon our minds. This is done to keep their activity outside the view of uninformed people who only see the puppet show. They like to do this work over generations so their work will not be detected by those who have become spiritually gullible.
Before we offer our next knee-jerk opinion on who or what is demonic, we need to pause and ask the Spirit for discernment. When the answer to that prayer comes, we might be surprised at who or what is under the influence of demonic entities.
“we need to pause and ask the Spirit for discernment”
Thank you for that — such a great reminder! Lately I’ve been battling with discerning the moves of denominations, cults, and seemingly wayward leaders and, ultimately, trying to understand how the Spirit would have us address each.
As you point out, I don’t think there’s a formula for these fuzzy lines. The Spirit is alive and active and guides us through the murky work of the enemy — praise the Lord!
Indeed satanic activity is heightened in every arena creating schisms as you pointed out. The divisive work of demon spirits is yet another ploy to misdirect the focus of many from the true enemy. Without accurate discernment and the wisdom of God we will permit demonic activity to abound. Thank God He is raising an apostolic army whose hands are empowered to fight ( i.e. they possess power over the enemy) and fingers to war (i.e. they possess precision over the enemy) (Psalm 144:1).
Yours in Christ,
Apostle Jonathan Khan.
