A DIFFERENT KIND OF BUMPER STICKER

With our national election just a few weeks away, most people already know who they will vote for. The election will be decided over a few states and a small group of undecided voters. We will choose a candidate based on what we know about them, their track record, and what we hope they will accomplish while in office.

Our vote is not the most critical event in this election cycle. What we do the day after the results are announced is the most important. What will we sound like if our candidate does not assume office? Will we offer hopeless words of despair? How we act and speak will reveal the object of our worship and the foundation of our hope. While the stakes are high in this election from a natural viewpoint, there is something much higher.

In one of David’s Psalms, he wrote, “Those who know your name trust in you, for you O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you” (Psalm 9:10). If we truly know the Lord, we can be assured He will not abandon us even when the final election results appear to go contrary to what we think should have happened.

Perhaps the most meaningful bumper sticker we can attach to our lives in this election cycle and for all events of life is one that reads, “God Will Not Abandon Us!” Only those who know the Lord and trust Him will be secure in their faith no matter what the election results reveal.

Thank you for your powerful insight. Even Jesus, when he walked this earth, didn’t have His eyes fixed on the government. He had His eyes fixed on the Father and only walked in His will. It’s a great example of how we all need to walk now, too.

Hahaha ye of little faith. We can win if Christians will vote. In 2022 only 26% of Evangelical Christians voted, and 30% aren’t registered. What’s with that?
