The things we thought were unchangeable and would continue uninterrupted are being set up for profound change. What we are seeing resembles the bottom outlet of a dam where power is generated through turbines. If the outlet is plugged, the intended purpose of the dam will be hindered.

As the release gate is opened, the first things to come out are those things that have plugged the dam. It will reveal the sludge and debris that has accumulated over time and blocked the dam’s outflow. The initial release will be messy and debris-ridden. The debris must first come out before the clear water can freely flow.

The first release will be disruptive, even confusing for some, until the clear water starts flowing. The release of debris will begin to move downstream, raising concerns about the choice of the timing of the release. 

This is a flushing season in both the Church and our nation. The flushing must take place before we can see the clarity of what the Lord intends to reveal. Be patient with the timing of the release and all the mess and disruption it is creating. What is coming will offer clarity and simplicity, something a plugged drain cannot provide.
