A FORGOTTEN TRUTH

On this Easter morning, as we do each year, we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. But there is one more thing we fail to recognize. Each act leading up to the Lord’s enthronement, His death, and His resurrection is a critical part of the events of that day, but they are not the complete story. The ultimate goal of all that Jesus suffered would lead Him to His throne, where He now sits above all powers and authorities on Earth and in Heaven.

When Jesus was arrested, He was brought before the High Council of religious leaders. They asked if He was the Messiah. After He challenged their inability to believe who He was, Jesus said, “From now on the Son of Man will be seated in the place of power at God’s right hand” (Luke 22:69).

While Jesus hung on the Cross, the repentant thief, after realizing his sin and his need for a Savior, cried out to the Lord, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom” (Luke 23:42).

When Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection, He led them to Bethany where He blessed them before He ascended to Heaven, “While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven” (Luke 24:51). This event completed the purpose of the Lord’s resurrection. He was now enthroned in Heaven and would send to Holy Spirit to His disciples to represent Him in power upon the Earth.

On Easter, we celebrate Jesus, the enthroned King of kings and Lord of lords. His enthronement reveals His majesty. To this majestic and enthroned Lord, we owe our worship because He is worthy.
