All people are spiritual beings, but not all are spiritually minded. Being spiritually minded only comes in a relationship with Jesus, where our minds are renewed from dead spirituality to a resurrected way of thinking. That resurrected way of thinking will affect how we see the world, our personal struggles, and what is taking place in nations. 

In the wilderness wanderings, the people began to complain, “The people grew impatient with the long journey, and they began to speak against God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!” (Numbers 21: 4-5). 

As a result of the people’s complaints, the Lord allowed poisonous snakes to enter the camp. The snakes began biting people. 

Those bitten by the snakes came to Moses and said, “We have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take away the snakes.” So, Moses prayed for the people” (vs. 7). 

Then the Lord told Moses, “Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!” So Moses made a bronze snake and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!” (vs. 8-9).

Those who looked at the snake on the pole in faith survived the poisonous bite. It was a look of faith that occurred before their healing happened. The bronze snake on a pole would later become an image used in modern medicine to signify healing.

The evidence of the depth of our faith happens when we look at the issues of life through the eyes of faith before any healing or deliverance takes place. Failing to look at this life with the eyes of faith will be to our spiritual peril. 

We make this choice when we realize there is no other option available for our healing or deliverance. To see life in this way requires that we understand all our sins have been nailed to the Cross and that a resurrected life is our future. Looking at our lives with a resurrected vision will reveal that we have become spiritually minded people.
