For the last few decades, I have witnessed people depart from the truth of God’s word to embrace human imagination. These imaginations have led people to accept what is not acceptable according to God’s word.
Apostle Peter quoted the prophet Isaiah, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever” (I Peter 1:24-25).
What people forget as they embrace these imaginations is that a choice based solely on human wisdom, at the expense of God’s truth, will stumble their faith. “They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them” (1 Peter 2:8).
Stumbling over the truth of God’s word and living a stumbled life based on human assumptions has a serious consequence. It is not just another life choice. Our earthly choices will affect our eternal destiny.
Be cautious about adopting a cavalier attitude towards what is true or false, thinking we are the arbiters of that choice. Only God’s word remains true across the ages, not the dismissal of God’s eternal word that is being replaced with well-crafted lies that appeal to our flesh, not to the heart of God.
