This morning, I woke up hearing in my spirit the word “tottering.” After settling into my writing chair, I searched for the meaning of the word and found the following definition provided by an online Google search.
“Tottering: 1 a: being in an unstable condition: a tottering building b: walking unsteadily 2: lacking firmness or stability: insecure a tottering regime.”
If you are the least bit aware of what is happening in the United States it seems like the definition of tottering is being lived out by our national leadership, a developing banking crisis, and our slavish obedience to not only the military/industrial complex but to the emergence of new slave owners, the pharmaceutical/government/media complex.
Some will say Jesus was not interested in the affairs of His culture indicating that He was somehow above such things. That was not the case. He used events of His day as illustrations and parables to instruct His followers on matters of truth. Some examples would include the Tower of Siloam that fell killing 18 people, Pilate’s murder of innocent people, or confronting evil and compromised religious leaders of His day calling them white-washed tombs of deception.
Our nation is tottering toward an eventual collapse. When all forms of natural hope and rescue are lost, true hope, the kind of hope that is anchored solely in Jesus Christ alone will begin to shine the brightest.
Mario Murillo recently provided unique insight into the current revival sweeping across our nation. Mario said the revival did not begin with the move of God at Asbury University. It began weeks before on a football field when Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills lay critically injured. Players and coaches from both teams gathered mid-field to kneel and pray for their fallen comrade. That image of united prayer took place on a field of play that just days before was considered a forbidden act by those in positions of authority threatening participants with the loss of their jobs and in some cases, legal action.
We are living in the beginning stages of a national collapse. In the past, when this tottering was taking place, a war was started to reignite the fortunes of a failing economy. While our eyes are on Ukraine, that sad and painful diversion is blinding our eyes to the development of even greater threats to our national stability. These threats will become wars creating levels of pain and suffering we cannot imagine. At this moment in history, more than ever, we need a prayerful and courageous Church.
Some forms of Western theology lack what I would call “traction.” This is the kind of traction that addresses real-world issues where our faith is vocally and practically lived out with courage while tottering leaders, their policies, and their click-bait promises continue to lead us toward collapse. All of this is done because we love our neighbors as ourselves. It will be in those moments when fear will grip the heart of a nation that a move of God will emerge to create supernatural traction leading people to the foot of the Cross and into God’s Kingdom. That is the only hope for a tottering nation.
The Master said that we would recognize these days that we are in by the signs He spoke of. These signs are manifesting as we breathe.
I wrote the following in 2020. From a poem titled: Come To Him (C) KS
“Eternal Life. Eternal Love
will fill you from within
and light your ways all of your days
if you will come to Him.
The most important thing to me
when life on earth turns grim
is the remedy to catastrophe.
My faith and love for Him.
Our time is short. The earth will pass.
A new one will begin.
Share in The Supper of The Lamb.
Have Faith and Come To Him.”
Truth is sometimes hard to swallow. Lord open our eyes to the Truth so we can focus our mission as believers and followers of Your Glorious calling on our lives to turn this nation around. Guide us Holy Spirit to accomplish what our heavenly commander desires of us. In the Mighty Name of Jesus, AMEN!
