For the last couple of years, I have been following a word from the Lord to “Follow the money.” Seeing where that assignment has taken me as my understanding has grown has been amazing. While attempting to see a larger picture of the world’s financial market, the Lord has revealed many things that have helped me see, pray, and even prophesy, what I have come to understand.

In the United States and other nations, most of us have been unaware, even uninformed, of what is happening beyond our borders. The Lord is using a wider understanding to help many of us see prophetically what is happening beyond the borders of our busy lives. 

An alliance called the BRICS nations has formed in recent years. BRICS is an acronym for the nations of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This week that group is formally meeting in Russia just before the election in the United States. This group has been drawing other nations into their membership. At this point, BRICS consists of 35% of the global GDP and 45% of the world’s population. Russia and China are backing Iran, a nation also under consideration for membership in BRICS. 

The BRICS nations hold vast amounts of critical resources like lithium, uranium, and gold. We get much of our uranium from Russia. These huge deposits of minerals are also present in Ukraine. As this money trail expands it is not difficult to see why some of our governmental decisions are based on natural resources, not just a surface conflict that creates war to control such resources.

The goal of BRICS is to be free from the control of the US dollar and its prominence as the dominant world currency. BRICS nations will be required to back much of their national finances with gold along with the currency of each participating nation instead of what we now have as a hegemony of the US dollar to conduct business.

What this means is that the US dollar will no longer be supreme on the global market. Nations will be free to trade in their own currency. It also means the control we have exercised over other nations based on the dominance of our dollar will be lessened. 

As Paul was instructing Timothy how to live out his faith, he said, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil” (I Timothy 6:10). The phrase “all sorts of evil”, is not just to be assigned to groups like the BRICS nations. It is also a warning to the United States regarding all kinds of evil we have employed to control other nations, a control motivated by a lust for money and the power it creates. 

As a financial shift is taking place on a global scale, uncertainty will come to those being affected by the shift. As believers, if we are not motivated by greed and a lust for power, the Lord will begin to miraculously provide for His Church in ways that a national government cannot provide.  It is the release of God’s love and His promised provision that we will prophesy when natural systems begin to fail. That is why we can confidently prophesy a message of hope when natural systems begin to fail and all sorts of evil are revealed.
