ALL ISRAEL WILL BE SAVED

It has become popular in some circles of the Church to dismiss the current expression of the nation of Israel, thinking its national goals have separated it from God. If that were the case, all of us would be separated from God because none of us are perfect, and no national policy is pure and without blemish.

After Paul said the Gentiles would be grafted into the faith through their belief, he told them not to become proud of God’s choice to include them. Paul wrote to his Gentile readers in Rome, “I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ. And so, all Israel will be saved” (Romans 11: 25-26).

Gathering the full number of Gentiles is still a work in progress. As that process is still being worked out, “all Israel will eventually be saved.” That goal should be what creates our attitude toward the Jewish nation, not what we have been told to believe.

There are a lot of theories about Israel and her salvation, many formed from biased news accounts and the images of war and aggression. Some have allowed those images and their impact to determine how we should view Israel. Our only source of truth is God’s word regarding Israel, not human opinion. According to God’s word, the truth remains unchanged: all of Israel will someday be saved when the Messiah, Jesus, is made known to them. Making Jesus known to Israel should be our primary goal when relating to Israel.

The lineage and hope of salvation for the Jews began long ago. It began with God’s special love for them: “They are still the people he loves because he chose their ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob” (vs. 29).

As we see the horrible images of war and conflict, something deeper is at work – the salvation of the nation of Israel. Putting all the pieces together into a sensible understanding can feel like an impossible task, “Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!” (vs. 33).

One truth overrides all things, “For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory” (vs. 36).
When we don’t understand what is happening or even strongly disagree with some of the decisions being made Israel’s current government, all of what is happening will eventually bring glory to God when Israel is finally saved and the fullness the Gentiles is complete. Until then, our greatest contribution will be to trust God when everything He has planned is yet fully complete and fully revealed.
