Of late, with all that is happening in the world and in the lives of people we love, Jan and I are spending more time praying together in the Spirit. This is not abandoning a prayer list. It is taking our prayers beyond the list to a place only the Spirit knows.

The gift of tongues has purposes and destinations we do not understand or comprehend with our minds, but God does. He directs these prayers supernaturally because none of us knows all that we should be praying about.

Paul said, “For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying” (1 Corinthians 14:14). 

This kind of prayer is something we can do if we have been baptized with God’s Spirit. This is not the public gift of tongues in a Church gathering that needs an interpretation. Praying in tongues is personal. It’s a prayer released by God’s Spirit through our spirit individually. When we join with another person or a group by praying in tongues together under the direction of the Spirit, it produces astounding results. 

Tongues can become a form of worship, yielding unique and transformative results that release miracles and heavenly interventions our minds cannot comprehend.
