There is a vast difference between hoping for something good to happen and placing our hope in the Lord.
The Lord will faithfully lead us through the negativity and doubt that will come when we focus on resolving the circumstances that are creating our fear, rather than trusting God. This is where our trust in God is deepened and strengthened.
Trusting in God is not dependent on the removal of what is happening to us. Trust reduces our many options of self-help or escape into one issue – the unfailing faithfulness of God to perform what He promised.
Trusting God will produce fearlessness in the presence of the circumstances that are creating our fear. That fearlessness will be what leads us forward when doubt and fear raise their voice, telling us to embrace their false message.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Psalms 56:3).
