Paul’s story is my story. I, too, was captured by incredible grace. My primary purpose is to be filled with God’s love. My prayer is that Jesus can use me as a pattern for others who would believe in Him for eternal life. Paul begins his letter to Timothy and...
We have seen three attempts on the life of President Trump, fueled by deranged thinking. It is not surprising that some mentally unstable person would be willing to attempt an assassination, believing the President is so evil that he deserves death. They see their...
One summer in our college years, Jan and I worked as lifeguards at different locations. We were trained how to approach a drowning person so they would not take us down with them. We were of no use to anyone if we didn’t personally train, practice, and prepare. Jan...
Those who want to change God’s word to accommodate their sins are being influenced by a spirit. That spirit has been called “the spirit of the age.” It wants to rewrite God’s word to comply with a degrading social norm. Sadly, for some in the Church, it has become...
Sometimes, a person is so given over to sin that the consequence of their sin must run its course. It’s like what happened with Pharaoh, who laid upon Israel the bondage of slavery, and throughout his enslavement of God’s people, he and the nation suffered a course of...
Each night, before bed, I pray that the Lord will protect us during the night hours. Last night’s prayer was different. I was given the impression that I was to add something to my prayer in the form of a request. Knowing I am approaching the last lap of my earthly...
The Church can become numb to the reality of hell’s power to imitate works of God in an attempt to deceive God's people. Hell can also do signs and wonders, but only to a point. The devil will use everything at his disposal to deceive us, even using the power of magic...
Thirty-five years ago, I discovered the meaning of our family name, “Elkins.” It means “Jehovah is God.” Our family name can be traced back to the Hebrew name “Elijah.” Discovering the origin of our family name had a significant impact on my life. There is a greater...
The irrational argument that the Church should not affect change in a nation must be put to rest. During Church history, influential spiritual voices like Martin Luther, William Wilberforce, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, all leaders within the Church, spoke up for truth....
The Lord will offer us opportunities to express our forgiveness to those who have wronged us. In God's redemptive process, He will remove from our hearts any desire to take revenge. It is in that moment, that we will discover the depth of our forgiveness. After Jacob...
The greatest yet-to-be-discovered mysteries of science and archaeology are waiting to be revealed. Mysteries appearing in the skies that were hidden for eons of time will be revealed. No matter what is made known and how astounding it may appear, they are all under...
Sometimes, we are led into a difficult place that appears to have no hope. It is in that desperate place where the Lord will reveal the reasons why He allowed such things to happen. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery and that slavery was used by God to reveal his...
While gaining qualifications like experience and education may seem significant, those two things do not qualify us to serve God. It is God's presence in our lives that is our greatest qualification. When Joseph was sold into slavery in the slave market of Egypt, he...
We are living in a time of great change. Some of that change has been expected. For others, the change will be unimagined. It will be in dreams and visions where the Lord will reveal His will apart from a limited understanding that has been provided to us by our...
When SpaceX was launched to execute a rescue mission of two astronauts aboard the International Space Station, it was a remarkable launch to watch. Each spacecraft stage ignited in sequence as the rocket rose higher in the sky. The stages fell away after depleting...
