In prayer, I saw an image that could have a variety of applications. It was a pen held above a ballot yet to be cast, or a declaration needing formal agreement, or a marker indicating an agreement with a new course to be taken. When the person marked their choice, a...
There’s a lot of social noise being made in our world. Each voice in the noisy crowd demands that we follow its agenda. When the increasing noise of a fearful crowd reaches a fever pitch, the Lord is asking us to pay special attention to His voice. The noise indicates...
In the nation of Iran, citizens are revolting against the ungodly government that has been controlling their lives. The leaders of the government of Iran have locked down the Internet to reduce exposure of their evil. The situation has arrived at a turning point....
53 years ago, I met a young woman who would become my wife. It wasn’t because of my smarts or my wisdom that Jan was given to me. God knew the kind of woman I needed, the kind that followed the leading of God’s Spirit, not the latest demands of culture or any personal...
The life of faith is supposed to be disrupted from time to time to keep us on the right path. Our journey of faith can appear like a blowing wind that will move in unexpected directions. The Pharisees had it out for Jesus. They were looking for a reason to kill the...
There is something called the “Mere Exposure Effect.” It is a psychological, and sadly, a spiritual effort to influence people to believe certain things over time. It is sometimes called the “Familiarity Principle.” This effect/principle has been used by governments...
There will always be signs in the sky. Some of these signs reveal to us that God is at work. These signs take place apart from the highest advancements of our science and our accomplishments no matter where our understanding falls on the timeline of human history. No...

Fifty-three years ago, my wife, Jan, was a student at what was then known as Multnomah School of the Bible. We would eventually meet on campus when our paths crossed one day which led us to love and a life-long commitment to each other. One of Jan’s classes was...
I write this not to create a riddle because it lacks pertinent definition or to write something so prophetic sounding that it will stump the reader. Numbers can reveal things like history and a repeat of the past. We each need to do our research, under the direction...
I saw the image of a tornado tossing about the debris of human opinion. The storm was a distraction. What was true for Elijah is true for us. Elijah was told the Lord was not in the storm. He is the still small voice offering the peace of God's truth. If we want that...
How we choose to see God in the middle of the trauma and troubles of life will determine how we live. Apart from making that choice, despair and depression will rule the day. The word of God offers adjustments to our thinking when dark and dismal outcomes are ruling...
