For the courts of any nation to extend true justice, those sitting as judges in the courts must experience a change of heart – they must hate evil and love what is good.
The prophet Amos expressed what happens before a judge can adjudicate true justice, “Hate evil and love what is good; turn your courts into true halls of justice” (5:15).
A judge must first hate evil and love what is good before their court can become a hall of justice. There is only one way to turn a court into a place where true justice is expressed. Righteous judgments can only happen if a judge understands what will take place if they allow evil to influence their final decision.
We turn our courts into halls of true justice by influencing those who sit as judges in our courts. That change is brought about through prayer. Instead of praying for our courts in generic terms, we must pray specifically for the hearts of the judges who are presiding over our courts.
That kind of prayer will bring about surprising verdicts, even among those judges who did not issue true judgments in the past, and were expected to do the same in the future.
From the lowest courts in the land to the Supreme Court, this kind of judicial turnaround is only possible if the Church prays for the hearts of those who sit in seats of judgment over our nation. This resulting change of heart in judges will be a work of God when they issue surprising and unexpected verdicts to the surprise of many.
