If we choose to follow the Lord, we need to understand what will happen in our lives as we do so. God’s way forward will lead us directly into the path of spiritual conflict, not around it. He does this because the way of the Lord will leave behind a testimony that God was always greater than our most challenging seasons of life.
In that journey of faith, the Lord wants us to learn more about Him as we move forward.
GOD’S WAY IS ALWAYS PERFECT
“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection” (Psalms 18:30).
It takes time to prove that something is true. God uses the process of time to show us that His promises never fail. God’s promises will become a shield for us as we learn how to trust the Lord.
GOD’S WAY WILL REVEAL THE STRENGTH OF GOD
“For whom is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect” (vs. 31-32).
As the Lord makes our way perfect, it means there is a heavenly process at work in what we are facing. As the evidence of this process deepens its impact on us, we will experience God’s strength. He does this by arming us with His strength, not our own. It will create in us a reliance on God, nothing else.
GOD’S WAY WILL STRENGTHEN US
“He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great” (vs. 33-35).
All our past experiences have prepared us for the struggles we are facing. The farther down the road of faith we go, the more we come to realize we need God’s help to do what He asks of us.
The Lord is creating in us a sure-footed, reliant faith. Through all the struggles and conflicts we encounter, the Lord has created a pathway forward that we never thought existed. He will have developed a sure-footed faith that is willing to take a precarious leap of faith and be sure of its footing.
GOD’S WAY WILL BECOME THE ONLY SURE WAY
“You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping.” (vs.36).
If we believe what the Lord has said is true, when we stand before our next decision, the Lord will say, “Put your foot here.” We can only take that step if we believe the Lord will do what He promised. We will be able to take that step and trust God that the next step will be empowered by Him, because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
