It has been announced that President Biden will travel to Israel on Wednesday to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu. Apart from the obvious prayers offered for his safety and the safety of others in the meeting, we need to pray against something I sensed this morning that is in the works – a symbolic assassination attempt that would be used to destabilize the world.
I know this kind of thing isn’t on the prayer list of most believers who are busy with life and experiencing a peaceful and isolated expression of their faith, but it should be. If the conditions are right, another world war is waiting in the wings to be released. It will only take one event to tip our world into unimaginable horror.
As citizens of the United States, we thought we were secure until 9/11 happened. The same was true in Israel last week until the recent terror attack was launched. The security surrounding President Biden’s visit will be so tight that we may be tempted to think “They wouldn’t dare such an attempt!” Those kinds of assumptions have led people to dismiss the need for prayer and as a result, leave open the door for hell to have its way.
How then should we pray? If you haven’t been praying for the peace of Jerusalem, start now. Jerusalem is the epicenter of the Middle East and will be the focal point of any end-time drama no matter how much certain aspects of Western eschatology try to convince us such events are all in the past, not waiting to take place in the future.
We need to pray this week for a heavenly intervention that would expose any evil plan before it is executed. Pray for resolutions many have considered impossible to accomplish based on the long history of division and death in the region. We are to pray without ceasing no matter how impossible any situation may appear.
This week is important. The events that occur in the coming days will be used to map out the coming weeks and months that will define the kind of world we live in and how we will express our faith in the future. Those possibilities are worthy of our prayers.
Bye-Bye-Done can’t even speak a full sentence…or find his way off a stage…it’s hard to imagine him doing anything in Israel but causing more chaos. God can, of course, use the chaos of people to accomplish His purposes…He can take what is meant for evil and turn it to good. Praying for God’s will to be done on earth…

Lord, we need Your mercy to manifest throughout the earth through Your people!
When I heard the news he’d visit Israel, my first impression was “stupidly dangerous.”
It is certainly true that the world will never be the same again after the events that have taken place here in Israel over the past ten days. God is shaking the nations, and the thoughts of many hearts are being revealed. It is time for a righteous leadership in the church and the west to rise up and speak truth with courage. This will open a door for revelation to come to many people groups, including those caught up in the Islamic deception. Church, be brave to stand on behalf of the truth and righteousness that have come to us through Israel, and to pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
