A state of war has been declared in Israel on the 50th anniversary of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The war was triggered by attacks from Hamas who began the war by firing 5,000 rockets into southern Israel. Terrorist teams have been sent over the border into Israel by land, sea, and air, even employing paragliders. People are dying. Israeli soldiers have been taken captive. 200,000 Israeli reservists have been called into service. Some of the terrorists had previously infiltrated Israel before the war began waiting to attack Israeli civilians once the rockets were fired as their signal to begin their assault.
We have entered a moment in history where our petty personal and cultural squabbles will diminish in significance as history-shifting events continue to unfold. In the coming days, we need to keep our focus on the Lord and reaffirm the basics of our faith while reexamining what has been revealed in the prophetic roadmap of our future as revealed in Scripture. In God alone is where our hope must be placed when our world enters dangerous territory.
Good post. I have recently heard similar warnings elsewhere. I am taking notice.
I live in Israel. We had a sublimely peaceful Succot (Feast of Tabernacles). On Friday night I gathered with friends for an Erev Shabbat meal, ushering in Simchat Torah, the night before the conflict broke out. It is interesting that we were led to focus on the scripture in Deuteronomy 33:27: “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.” Yes, Israel will prevail, but meanwhile the suffering is very great; she needs our prayers and intercession. And yes, what is happening in this small land will be impacting the whole world, but our God holds the reins of history in His hands.
Interesting, Indeed! 🙏❤️🇮🇱
