Forest fires are starting to ignite in southern Oregon and northern California. It is a very uncomfortable situation to be put on an evacuation notice knowing your home and all your possessions are in jeopardy. The goal of those who valiantly fight these fires is containment. Containment forms a ring around a fire so it will not spread further. That is a positive form of containment, something we are currently praying for in our community. 

In the spiritual realm, there is another form of containment that is not positive. It is the work of darkness masquerading in political, social, and relational attire. This kind of containment if not breached will bring unnecessary suffering to people who have been led to believe the containment is for their own good.

The fire of God’s Spirit is beginning to jump the containment lines of those attempting to control the spread of truth. It will be a failed attempt. Truth driven by the wind of the Spirit is an unstoppable force no matter how complete the lines of containment appear. In the coming months, the spread of God’s fire will become evident as the containment lines of deception are breached and the love of God spreads driven by the gale force wind of the Spirit.
