In 1949, when the Communist Party took over the nation of China, Mao Zedong assumed the role of national leadership over the newly established People’s Republic of China, a Marxist–Leninist single–party state–controlled political system. Counterrevolutionaries to the government’s authority were publicly denounced in mass trials. Significant numbers of counterrevolutionaries were arrested and executed. Thousands were sent to “labor reform” camps.
One of Mao’s greatest tools of control was fear. He used his authoritarian position against anyone who disagreed with party policies. Dissenters were labeled as an enemy of the Communist State. While this national oppression was taking place, the Church grew stronger under the oppression. Such is the power and nature of God’s Kingdom.
In the United States, if certain people gain political power, the same controlled future awaits us. The “heroes” of the regime will be the ones who snitch on their friends and families exposing them as dissenters, isolating them as traitors to the regime.
Mao was right when he tapped into the brokenness of unredeemed human nature. To accomplish his goals he had to garner a following of the naïve and uninformed masses willing to do his bidding. But Mao was dreadfully wrong spiritually as he released his reign of terror attempting to silence dissenting voices.
Censorship of free speech was the first tactic Mao used to gain control. An attempt to suppress human will and restrict the freedom of speech is always a work of hell. It is the nature of political power.
Beware in this election cycle of the labels we are told to place on dissenters who stand against governmental control. These labels will reveal the difference between Godly influence and those who desire to control our lives for ungodly purposes. Labels are the work of the enemy. They remove from the public discourse further consideration for what is happening in our nation and what we have been told to believe as the truth without further consideration.
Jesus was right when He said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (Romans 8:32). Anything that is not true will always lead us to a place of bondage and enslavement. Not everything we are being told is true, nor does it have our best interests in mind.
Choose wisely and trust the Lord as the election approaches. Trusting the Lord is our only hope when evil wants to take the helm of our nation and lead us to a place of emotional, spiritual, and financial bondage. Only trust in God has the power to dispel fear.
I am terribly concerned for this generation…they truly believe that this government cares about them. They believe that what they feel really means something to them. Only Jesus can break the spell of deception and open their eyes.
