When the Lord gives us a word to speak, there will always be those who disagree with what we say. Some will even condemn us. When this happens, we need to move past those objections and condemnations and hold true to what the Lord asked us to share.

Moving past those disagreements will cause something else to happen. It will require that we move past the people who were either offended by what we said or were told by others to bring forth a chorus of objection if they want to remain within a group of mutual affiliation.

Moving past people does not mean we stop loving them. It means we will have to move forward with what the Lord said and refuse to return to our previous way of thinking before our understanding was expanded. This is never an act of our pride or an attempt at one-upmanship. It is simply an act of obedience.

We are called to pray for those who refuse to understand what the Lord has revealed, even when their objections are harsh and strident. It becomes a test of the condition of our hearts.

We are called to pray for the objectors. We pray for them because they need a word from the Lord to restrain what will happen to them because of their unwillingness to hear a word that will upset their current status quo. Not being willing to hear what the Lord is saying will lead them into places of disobedience.

Being willing to follow a word from the Lord is different. It will release a blessing if people are willing to follow what the Lord has said and not choose to remain uninformed.

“Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction” (Proverbs 29:18).
