NEVER ENOUGH

Several years ago, the Lord gave me a prophetic word. He said, “Follow the money.” The word came because I asked the Lord to help me understand what motivates people and what harms those under the influence of their greed. The revelation that followed that word has been a continuing release of information about things I was never aware existed.

If we want to understand what causes war – follow the money.

If we want to understand politics – follow the money.

If we want to understand why ministries fail, follow the money.

If we want to understand a person’s motives – follow the money.

If the cost of medical care seems extreme – follow the money.

If we want to understand how the world works – follow the money.

Following the money will reveal things hidden behind issues like sexual misconduct, hypocrisy, or bribery that attempt to mask the real root of evil.

Following the money will dismantle our illusions and cause us to question some things we’ve been told to believe without question. This inquiry is not motivated by suspicion. It simply moves us closer to discovering the source of different expressions of evil done by people and institutions we would never have imagined would do such things in our previous state of uniformed naivety.

This is not just about civil government. It also applies to the Church.

“There were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.  Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. In their greed, they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money” (II Peter 2: 1-3).

Those following along this path of deception, at some point in their life, failed to deal with their feelings of discontentment. This is a moral issue. It is a battle we must all fight.

“Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So, if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content” (I Timothy 6: 6-8).
