As global military forces surround Iran and military conflict is about to take place, the Lord will answer the cry of the Iranian people who have suffered death and isolation under the current Islamic regime. These ungodly powers have brought death and destruction, but they are not as powerful as they imagined. They have become enemies of God.
Thousands of Iranians have been murdered, and the prayers of the saints around the world have asked the Lord to deliver them. The spiritual weakness of those in control of Iran will be used by God to display His glory. The current Iranian leadership will soon fade away. “The Lord’s enemies are like flowers in a field – they will disappear like smoke” (Psalm 37:20).
In times of confusion and uncertainty, something will happen in the mind of a follower of Jesus. The Lord will offer another way to think about the future: “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand” (Psalm 37:23-24).
A life that exhibits a trusting faith in God will take us into our older years, making this confident assertion: “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread” (vs. 25).
Why is this true? Because in difficult times when we feel like we have no control over what happens, it’s only the Lord, the faithful One, who does what He promised. The Lord will take the reins of our lives and be responsible for our protection and provision. Our assignment is to trust the justice of God, “For the Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly” (vs. 28).
The Lord will never abandon us when the swords of war are rattling intensely. Our survival will come because God is just, and He will bring His justice into whatever struggle we encounter.
We will not always agree with God’s form of justice, especially when His justice might not agree with our assumptions, but in the end, God’s justice will always prove right and trustworthy. He is our safe place.
