Where Jan and I live, we have four ways to leave our neighborhood. Each exit leads to a different way out of town. We don’t live on a dead-end street or within the confines of a cul-de-sac. The way of escape, should we need to do so, is open with several options available.
The location where we live our spiritual life is like the location of our home. We have options. In some instances, people have never entertained a way of escape from the approach of sin. When Joseph was tempted by Potiphar’s wife, he had an option available for his escape – he ran out of the palace! Joseph knew where his exit was, and he took it.
The more mature our faith becomes the more options will have set in place to escape from an offering of sin. Paul wrote, “God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure” (I Corinthians 10:13). The “more than you can stand” part of that verse means that no sin has the power to overcome us if we know where the exits are positioned.
Today, if a temptation of any kind is taking place in your life, confirm the location of your exit. When sin approaches and you need to run away, you will know where the exits are located.
Wisdom! Plan your escape route from temptation, and even pack your Go Bag.
Good, is it ok to copy something to post on my fb page? Thx…
