“Rumor Has It” is never an enticement we should follow to create conversations and form our opinions. Only something we know to be true is what we should allow to direct our lives and form our speech. This will keep us from following the lure of foolish and unfounded rumors creating gossip that will lead us astray and compromise our integrity.
Rumors feed our curiosity without knowing the truth. They are like cancer. Their influence will spread in our spiritual lives and bring with them death. They destroy relationships and our credibility demeaning our calling as a child of God.
We don’t need to know or hear everything being said about a person, especially what empowers gossip. Our choice to monitor what we hear and say will define us as a trustworthy person, someone God can trust with the deeper truths of His Kingdom.
“Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies” (Psalm 34:13).
