When Scripture uses an eagle as a metaphor, we don’t always understand what we are reading. A metaphor can never fully capture the immensity and depth of God. Metaphors are used to gain our attention to express a deeper truth.
I’ve seen hundreds of eagles who would gather along rivers in Montana to hunt for fish. It is a yearly event drawing photographers and tourists. All those times, I saw the eagles from a distance. I was never close enough to see the size and power of such a majestic creature.
It makes one want to get closer to God to see and experience His immense love and power. When we finally see and experience the majesty and omnipotence of God, His enemies, and ours, don’t seem so significant anymore.
Amen…Looking through God-sized eyes.
