I watched an interview being conducted with a group of elders from a native tribe who live in the Arctic. These elders were sitting together in a field while they were being interviewed. There were no scientific measuring devices present. They recognized that something had moved in the heavens. Their response to the interviewer was simple, “The earth has moved.” They noted a physical shift had taken place in the heavens from decades of observation. They could see in the stars that a shift in the Earth’s position had occurred before the scientists recognized the change and assigned a name to that realignment.
While we put value on education, scientific tools of measurement, and other systems and devices that measure change, what we see and feel in our spiritual gut speaks louder than the tools themselves. What speaks louder are our interpretations that are formed by our spiritual common sense that create our interpretation and awareness that something has changed. When evidence is presented that violates our common sense we must test its validity.
John wrote, “Do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God” (I John 4:1). While John was referring to the uncompromised message of Jesus Christ, the principle of examination can apply across all areas of life. When our spiritual common sense is telling us that something has moved, we need to believe what we are sensing.
If something makes no sense based on the truth of God’s word, it needs to be examined before it is believed, even if our examination exposes a lie and we are rejected because of our inquiry. If the spirit of a message demands our adherence without allowing us to question its validity, that is an indicator that what we are being told is a lie built on a faulty foundation. The tribal elders who saw a change in the heavens did not need scientific affirmation of what they saw. It came from their observation of reality.
Do not be afraid to speak about what you know is true even if great opposition comes with your observation. Over time, the Lord will confirm what you are sensing in the Spirit.
The Lord is about to confirm that a spiritual shift has taken place. If you are sensing that movement, wait for the Lord to confirm what you are seeing. This is a time to rest in the Lord, and not be concerned by what others cannot yet see.
