We see the debris of what is called the Deep State expressed in the governments of nations. Some in the Church attempt to fight this battle in the natural realm rather than in the realm of the Spirit. In doing so, their efforts remain futile, and nothing changes.
We have not been called to fight the fleshly manifestations of a Deep State in human terms using that strategy as our primary tactic. We have been called to concentrate our fight first in the spiritual realm through prayer.
Paul wrote, “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). To see into the unseen realm requires that we are led by the Spirt, not our emotions.
Today, we are fighting against the same unseen spirits that were revealed in biblical records displayed by the idols of Molech and Baal and the idols that filled each home in Corinth, calling Corinth “the city of 10,000 gods.”
At some point, a Spirit-led discernment will require that we form our response to evil by living a righteous expression of that revelation, no longer allowing our faith to remain hidden from the world. Our faith will be out in the open for all to see.
Living a righteous life will require that we say no to the systems that give these spirits authority in our world, demanding we bow down to their edicts. It is here that confusion in the Church occurs when some think the most spiritual among us are the most passive and silent in the face of evil.
A Deep State project does its most impactful work in secrecy. Exposure is the greatest threat to its mission. It will try to convince those who remain naïve to label a righteous effort as a conspiracy theory or an expression of nationalism when it is simply the result of living a righteous life.
It is sad to see when the Church adopts the cultural language of dismissal, using those terms to condemn fellow believers, separating themselves from their brothers and sisters in Christ. That is one expression of how the Deep State may be winning a battle but not the war.
The Lord called us to be one in Him, even when we disagree. That will be our greatest challenge in times of social upheaval, but to a Deep State, it will be their greatest threat.
