Evil in our world produces its own kind of progeny. It creates offspring sourced in ancient deceptions. This was revealed in Genesis 6 when the angels that had rebelled against the Lord in Heaven came to Earth and procreated with humans to produce what were called the Nephilim – a race of giants from which Goliath came. The goal of that union was to have a sexual union with the women of Earth that would produce unnatural offspring.

Jude wrote about that unnatural union, “I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of judgment. And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment” (Jude 6-7).

Today, wherever there is sexual perversion, it can be traced back to those dark angels that left their place of authority and stepped into the earthly realm to cohabitate with humans to spread their mockery of God among humanity – the very mockery that caused them to be ejected from Heaven. Their sinful pursuit of sexual freedom kept them in bondage, along with those who yielded to their temptation. Today, the occult is filled with sexual associations with the demonic, and it affects those who willingly pursue such forbidden associations.

All forms of evil can be traced back in time to their original engagement with the people of Earth. Genesis tells us, “In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilim lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times” (Genesis 6:4).

From those original unions came giants like Goliath. It was at this time that evil was increasing and overtaking humanity. God sent a flood to destroy the unrestrained evil “as it was in the days of Noah” (Matthew 24:37).

David, as a king, was a type of Christ. He was able to defeat Goliath as an example of what Christ would do on the Cross to redeem humanity. Evil and all its manifestations are under the authority of Jesus, and freedom from such evil can only happen through Him.

That original evil still prowls the Earth today, seeking whom it may devour with its deceptive seduction. The goal of that evil is to corrupt all that is good and right, causing people to live a counterfeit life, calling the counterfeit something good and acceptable.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life in all matters of life. Only Jesus can redeem the most embedded forms of evil and deception. He does this by exhibiting the overwhelming power of the Cross. The victory of Jesus is like the slaying of Goliath. The Lord can overcome the most ancient and powerful forms of any deception that still desires to rule the hearts of humanity.
