There are times when Scripture is read that people will interpret what was written as something quaint or poetic, but not something to actually believe and act on.

Because God’s word is active and alive, its impact should never be diminished. Honoring God’s word by a single act of obedience can bring about miracles that will fulfill what God has promised. The smallest act of obedience or a briefest of prayers has miraculous potential.

Zechariah wrote, “Do not despise these small beginnings” (Zechariah 4:10). This fragment of a verse has been repeated in the Church over the years. Only when we enter eternity will we see what happened as a result of our obedience and prayers.

We can think we need to pray a longer prayer or have more faith to appeal to God. What we need is simple obedience to do the small things. The smallest act of obedience or the simplest one-line prayer can release heaven on earth.

In those moments, we will see impossible things happen when our obedience to the small things gets heaven’s attention and miracles are released to fulfill God’s promises.
