There are times when nature will announce what God is about to do. On July 29, 2025, a large earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 took place in Kamchatka, Russia. Kamchatka lies at the eastern edge of Russia and borders Alaska.
That immense earthquake set in motion what scientists are calling a pulse. That pulse was sent out to all the volcanoes that line the western portion of what is called the Ring of Fire along the states of Washington, Oregon, and California.
Scientists had never seen this kind of unified pulsing action before, when the pulsing affected in geologic unison all the volcanoes within the Cascade Range at the same time. The pulse was sent through the volcanoes of Mount Rainer, Mount St. Helens, Mount Hood, and Mount Shasta. They all responded to the pulse at the same time and in the same way, in unison. Once the pulse took place, they all returned to their normal activity.
Some are sensing that this might be a pulsing that could activate the Cascadia Subduction Zone, which lies along the west coast of Washington, Oregon, and northern California. I believe the pulsing is nature announcing that God is about to do something unusual and unexpected within the Church and, as a result, within our nation.
Paul wrote, “The creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time” (Romans 8:21-22). In that groaning, nature can release an unexpected and unprecedented pulsing that will get our attention.
The people of God are beginning to respond to that groaning, especially because of the recent events that have occurred in our nation. Paul wrote how the groaning will affect the Church, “And, we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering” (vs. 23). Because God’s Spirit lives within His people, we will sense the Spirt’s pulsing within us.
These are days to expect the Lord to do something unprecedented. Do not dismiss the activity of the natural world. It may be the kind of announcement that will create an expectation in us, announcing a new season where He will respond to our groaning by sending a united pulsation in our hearts that He is about to birth something new in His people and within the nations where we live.
