This weekend, more than 1,500 demonstrations have been planned to take place across America. The event has been titled “No Kings – Nationwide Day of Defiance.”
While a day of protest is not out of line with our freedom to express our differing views, there is something else afoot. It creates a space for the spirit of anarchy to manifest. Anarchy is defined as a philosophy of life that advocates for the absence of social structure, rules, and laws.
Not all who attend such protests are an enemy of national stability. Some are simply displaying their displeasure. To lump all who attend these protests and declare they are following the spirit of anarchy is a mistake. It is a mistake because it fuels the disorder a lawless spirit needs to empower its agenda.
In the middle of the No Kings protest, the Church has an opportunity to pray against the spirit of anarchy that is looking to gain a foothold in our nation. Instead of displaying angry memes and social posts of displeasure about the protest, we need to pray against the spirit of anarchy that is seeking to release its presence in greater measure.
June 14 is a day to confront and challenge the spirit of anarchy in prayer. Those prayers will be a form of spiritual warfare that is not directed at people or groups but against an evil spirit.
To leave that spirit to roam freely without confrontation and challenge in prayer would be a tragic error for the Church and the nation.
