This morning, something unique happened. As I was praying and taking communion, I began to sing some old worship choruses. After I sang several choruses, I tried to sing one song whose lyrics escaped me.
Normally, I would just move on to the next song lodged in my memory, but this time I paused and prayed, “Lord, help me remember the song.” As soon as I uttered the last word in my prayer, I heard someone singing the chorus I had forgotten. It was sung as a whisper, “Holy, Lord, Most Holy Lord, you alone…” I joined in with the one singing and was able to recall the entire song.
This wasn’t a jog in my memory that recalled the forgotten lyrics to emerge. What I was allowed to hear, I believe, was Heaven worshipping. When I heard the song being sung from another dimension, I felt a strong confirmation with the realm of the Spirit. That connection rose above all that we see happening in the world. It confirmed a greater reality of what is happening in the Spirit as we navigate this perilous time in human history.
It will be in our desire to follow God and worship Him that His whispers will be revealed. This morning, a gap between realms was breached, and a connection was made. Ask and He will answer your prayers, not always in the wind, earthquake, or fire, but in the whispers of God that let us know we are not alone.
Thank you. This is hugely helpful in understanding something within my own experience.
Thank you so much for this encouraging word! Attention to the ‘whispers of God’ is a much needed discipline for any of us riding the waves of this season in time. I’m so grateful that our God is so gracious to speak in such a sweet voice amidst the clamor and confusion. Pray for me as I care for my almost 95 year old mother, that in the midst of it all, all the unknown, all the clamor (we haven’t had a tv for years and now do for her and it’s loud and rather obnoxious to my spirit) that I am still able to hear His voice, His songs, His heart.
We were created to hear the sounds of heaven- to experience His voice. Praise be to God.
Thank you for sharing Garris.
