This season of recovery and rehabilitation from a knee injury has stripped away my reserves of emotional strength. Add to that all that is taking place in our culture and you have a perfect storm for disillusionment and deception.
Yesterday, it all hit me with full force in my emotional face. In a moment of despair, I tossed out words to Jan that were not assessed or qualified by the Spirit. She wisely said, “Your weakness is a portal for God’s power.”
When Paul faced a season of physical challenge and discouragement, the Lord said to him, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness” (II Corinthians 12:9). An expectation of the fulfillment of those words in our place of weakness is evidence that we understand what the Lord said.
This morning, Jan wrote a blessing from Paul’s interaction with the Lord in II Corinthians 12. It spoke to me and I hope it speaks to you.
In the Name of the Lord Jesus.
I bless your spirit with an impartation
of His words:
My grace is always more than enough for you—
I am more than enough for you—
and my power finds its full expression
through your weakness.
When you recognize any physical,
emotional, or spiritual weakness,
may you respond with celebration —
you will sense more deeply
the power of the Messiah living in you.
Like Paul, make this your declaration:
I am not defeated by my weakness.
Instead, I am delighted that I am made stronger;
when I feel weak,
when I endure mistreatment,
when I am surrounded with troubles on every side,
when I face persecution because of my love for Christ—
my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power.
Sooooo good!! Thank you Garris for sharing this blessing with us!!!
