People are always looking for the key to live a life of faith. What matters most can appear so simple that we can miss it. We want to do something to prove our faithfulness. In our haste, we will make premature decisions and take courses of action that will not honor God.
There is purpose in what the Lord is doing among His people. “God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ, which is to fulfill his own good plan” (Ephesians 1:9). For us to fulfill God’s plan requires that we understand certain elements of His plan.
To accomplish God’s plan for His people, we need to know where we are seated, “For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). Without understanding where we are currently seated will have us seeking earthly solutions, not Heaven’s intervention in the affairs of this life.
When I wrote my first book, Prayers from the Throne of God, my writing was based on where we now sit with Christ in Heaven. Understanding our position will change everything. I noted three things that we must do if we want our prayers to change our lives and heal brokenness within the Church.
WE NEED TO DECLARE GOD’S HEART
Everything of value and importance in our lives flows from our ability to know and understand the heart of God. If we don’t know His heart, we will do and say things that may appear right to a natural mind, even religious-sounding, but in the end, it will produce results that cannot lead us forward to a future that the Lord can bless.
WE NEED TO DECREE THE VICTORY OF CHRIST
The second thing is the ability to decree the victory of Christ. The Lord’s death and resurrection are the only things that can foil the works of evil and change earthly outcomes. Demons shriek at the declaration of the Lord’s victory. It’s at this point that the third issue regarding prayers from the throne of God is revealed.
WE NEED TO PROPHESY THE WORD OF THE LORD
Only when we know God’s heart and understand what Jesus did for us will we have the courage to prophesy a word that will announce God’s preferred future. That kind of prophecy can sound so different because it is otherworldly. The sound of those prophecies may shock the ears of those not familiar with the gift of this kind of prophetic announcement.
We are facing major issues in the world, and sadly, within the Church. To enter this uncertain time without knowing God’s heart will lead us down a path of human strength and striving, seeking weak and impotent solutions to human struggles.
The victory begins when we understand God’s heart for the Church and for the nations of the world. From that discovery will flow powerful decrees and unusual prophecies that will change the course of human history and restore the witness of the Church in the nations.
