After a recent windstorm, I was hiking along a familiar trail past where a prominent old dead tree once stood. I’ve passed by that old tree for years. Under the wind’s influence, the tree was sheared off, causing the tree to fall. When I saw the fallen tree, the Lord revealed what was happening in our nation.
The wind of God’s Spirit is moving, and its intensity is increasing. Things that have become familiar and were expected to stand forever will begin to fall as directed by the Lord. They will fall because their continued presence will harm people. They are not part of God’s plan to prosper nations and the people who live within those nations.
It is folly to see these fallen trees and dismiss what happened to them. In a colloquial way of speaking, we are being told to “Move on. There’s nothing to see here.” To remain blind to what we see taking place will cause us to believe the lies we have been told about the trees.
The toppling of these trees happens because the Lord has spoken. It is His word that empowers the wind of His Spirit and directs its course. When the Lord speaks, nothing can withstand His will. As the Psalmist wrote, “With a word, He called up the wind” (Psalm 107: 25). The Lord is calling up the wind of the Spirit to do His bidding and the evidence of His word is being seen by those with eyes to see His reality.
Take note and do not dismiss what you are seeing. As we see these toppled trees their demise will remind us that God is a work. He is bringing down what opposed His will and what we were told would stand forever without interruption until the wind of God’s Spirit exposed their weakness and toppled their place of prominence and influence in our lives.
Lord, give us eyes to see!
Yes Lord, may discernment shine through this present darkness
I just passed a gum tree in a beautiful old park where a major tree limb lay broken off on the ground. The dead branches spiked upwards as if it was the antlers of a dead deer. I thought ‘oh how the mighty have fallen’ your word is confirmation thankyou.
