When so much is taking place in our world that seems out of our control, it can be overwhelming to process. It can also be mystifying how we should respond when we discover information that reveals things that seem overwhelming and beyond our ability to influence. At that point, it is too easy to consider the issue as something beyond our ability to influence and move on thinking we have no part in a process that will bring about the necessary change required to move a negative or harmful situation in a different direction.

The Lord has given each believer the ability to initiate significant change in their personal lives, family, and friends or in unfolding world events. This is done by declarations, decrees, and prophecy spoken from our heavenly position in Christ seated with Him on His throne at the right hand of the Father.  This is not a future position. Paul said we are seated there with Jesus at this moment. “For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). We will feel impotent and non-effectual in our prayers if we do not realize our heavenly position and the authority that position affords.

Declarations proclaim the heart of God over someone, a situation, or something of concern. They answer the question, what would the Lord want to see take place? Decrees speak forth the authority and supremacy of Jesus Christ over all things, even what has been labeled as an impossibility. Prophesying means we pause and listen opening our spirit up to the Spirit of God to receive a word, an image, or a prophetic act that will set in motion a miraculous outcome. 

When we see so much in our world that is spiraling out of control and causing concern, we have an assignment. We can declare God’s heart, decree His authority, and prophesy a new future. Jan and I have prayed this way for years and from personal experience, we have experienced personal miracles and outcomes we would never have imagined without releasing Spirit-led declarations, decrees, and prophecies.
