WITH EYES WIDE OPEN

I started writing this article several times trying to tamp down any offense it might create in the reader. I was trying to write about fear and how it motivates leaders to commit ungodly acts and realized it was fear that was causing me to write and rewrite these words in an attempt to soften their impact. So, I decided to take another run at it, this time sharing my thoughts as openly and honestly as possible.

I am learning how important it is to take a macro view of what is happening in our world. Everything is connected. A micro view of life misses the connections we need to see to put enough pieces together to comprehend a macro reality of what is transpiring on the world stage that will impact all of us locally.

A macro view of life offers us an opportunity to gain insight into how to pray and act in ways that honor the Lord and protect the innocent. This is not political or partisan. This is about discerning reality with enough clarity and honesty that we are able to love our neighbor as ourselves – a commandment Scripture tells us is of equal importance to the commandment to love God.

The military-industrial complex does more than create military hardware and support the systems of war. Its primary goal is to gain wealth and exert the kind of political power that wealth affords. Its survival depends on producing scenarios and ways of thinking that create a perceived need for the items they sell. This would not be possible without a working partnership between compromised politicians, the media, and an uninformed population who have been groomed to accept their approved narrative.

This approval creates social support and garners the votes required to approve the funding and make a sale for the equipment required to take us to war or engage in a proxy war where others spill their precious blood to support the military-industrial complex and appease our misguided call for justice in other parts of the world.

We are living in a critical moment in history. Sabers of war are rattling internationally, and the fingers of power are inching closer and closer to the nuclear button. This should concern us, not just as citizens, but as followers of Jesus Christ. No matter what your opinion might be of our current President, his approval ratings have plummeted, and he seems to be mentally compromised. We should have compassion for him and pray for him because he is being used by powers and agendas that are deeper and darker in their intent than a micro view of reality can comprehend.

When a compromised leader feels his tenure is threatened and deceptions are being whispered into his ear, historically such leaders have taken nations to war to solve their political problems and divert the attention of a nation away from their failures in hopes of reelection. We need to be praying with a deepened concern motivated by a single source, love. In the end, love is our greatest weapon and our purest agenda. All others will fail us and end up bringing harm, not hope.

Courageous post, Garris. Thanks for pressing in and driving through the fear to proclaim the truth.

James Farrell’s classic work “Babylon’s Banksters” chronicles (with abundant bibliographical citations) the leading role that banks have played in financing BOTH sides of most recorded conflicts in history, as well as in underwriting arms salesmen, intelligence agencies, and others to provoke conflict.

In this construct, governments are puppets – and as a famous author has noted “In war, the first casualty is always TRUTH.” Warmongers will call upon the people’s fears, their gods, and their sense of indignation at EVIL (always the other party) to rally a multi-faceted US v THEM construct, maintained by a puppet media whose circulation relies on controversy and other emotional manipulations.

In many cases, our pulpits are filled with puppets who grasp at scripture to rally their followers to direct their prayers and giving to support government policy.

May we learn to Fear the Lord as Jesus did (Is 11.2-5) and be able to make righteous decisions for the poor and the oppressed that are but based in what we see and hear.

Please be even bolder, Garris. A prophetic generation needs a spiritual father and a reliable guide to keep them connected to Holy Spirit.

As iron sharpens iron, so, one person sharpens another.
    Proverbs 27:17

Hard Words are needed in these days.
We must be Sharp and Ready for the Days Ahead.
    Thank you, Sir!

I don’t see these as hard words, Garris. Rathe they are wisdom let those with ears to hear be encouraged. Thanks for your heart.

I just finished a novel penned 50 years ago that portrays what is happening in our country today as well, Chilling, well written truth that spurred me to more and more prayer, knowing God is not surprised or overwhelmed by things, yet desires us to partner in prayer and meet with Him. He holds the answers and our individual assignments. Thank you Garris for faithfully speaking out what He is revealing. The novel was Taylor Caldwell’s “Captains and the Kings.”

A much needed reminder of what is at stake. This macro-view is essential and a humble yet compelling exhortation to live out our faith and call with Eyes Wide Open. Well done!
