When the Church realizes what she carries, that realization will change how we see and respond to each life situation.
As the Triumphant Entry was taking place, Jesus approached the city of Jerusalem riding atop a donkey. This would fulfill Zechariah’s prophecy about how the Lord would enter the city. Jesus was not riding on a chariot or marching ahead of an army. He was alone.
As the citizens of the city spread their garments and cut branches to place on the road before Him to honor His arrival, they people shouted, “Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord” (Matthew 21:9). This was not just an expression of human excitement. It was a fulfillment of a prophecy, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” (Psalms 118:26).
The word the people of Jerusalem shouted about a blessing coming from the Lord’s entry has a specific definition. The word “blessing” means to invoke God’s blessing upon someone, to call earnestly for the blessing on His appearing, and to appeal to someone with the authority to grant what is offered. The people thought they were honoring Jesus when in reality, He was the one coming with the blessing.
Today, no matter what circumstance we enter, whether dealing with a wayward child, navigating a difficult job situation, or having to live in a nation moving forward contrary to God’s will, we carry with us the blessing of the presence of Jesus Christ. He is the blessing we carry.
Our appearance is designed to release the blessings of God into those challenging situations. Each person or situation is a candidate for the release of God’s blessings. To view people or situations through the eyes of God’s blessing will change the way we see them and how we relate to them. To carry the blessings of God with us is a profoundly beautiful assignment.
Thank you, Garris. We truly carry the blessing into every situation- a blessing which can open the doors to miracles, crafted in heaven, for us to dispense here on earth.
