Today, Jan and I will end a multi-day fast. It is a fast like the one I entered after the Lord first came to me in a Damascus Road experience in the middle of the night 45 years ago. In that encounter, He called me to serve Him. That original fast set the course of my life and prepared me for what was to come. Jan and I felt this latest fast was the same. It was a preparation to make us ready for what was coming

The word “prepared” is defined as “make ready for use.” In other words, we are spiritually prepping our lives for the next season, a season of life none of us yet realize its importance and impact. 

Our fast was a preparation in the Spirit so “that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). Our invitation to fast came from the Lord. It was a specific calling for a specific season to be prepared and made ready for use. 2024 is that season – a season where the Church must be prepared and made ready to be used by God for His purposes.
