At Christmas time, we all have traditions we follow. Those good traditions bring families together in joyful celebrations. There is another kind of tradition - a negative kind. These are the unexamined religious traditions. They can lead us away from a pure and simple...
Every individual, city, and nation will have an opportunity to respond to the message of Jesus or to reject Him. The choices people make about the message of Jesus will determine their fate. After Jesus returned to his hometown of Nazareth, His familiarity with the...
Jesus revealed a principle of spiritual warfare while He was asleep in the back of a boat, as a severe storm struck while the Lord and His disciples were crossing a lake. Water began to enter the boat as Jesus continued sleeping. His disciples, men experienced in...
When we read about Balaam and his talking donkey, we tend to focus on the miracle of an animal speaking to a human. But there is more to the story than that miracle. Balak was the king of the Moabites. He saw the approaching Israelites and wanted Balaam to curse...
God is preparing His people by placing the hidden and broken things in our lives out in the open in plain view. He is doing this, not to punish us, but to remove the old inhibiting ways of living from our lives so we can finish the race of faith intact. Godly exposure...
Dear friends and family, Our daughter, Anna, has been nominated by a longtime friend and fellow author to be considered as the Poet Laureate of Oregon. This is a high honor. Last year, Anna was awarded the Oregon Book Award for her poetry. If you felt led to also...
Reading through the Old Testament, I am happy to have been born at this time in history. There was so much detail in the Old Testament expression of faith that was complicated, like the exact building details of the Tabernacle. However, in both Testaments, there was a...

Some days, I will get an image or impression from the Lord not knowing what He is saying to me at the time. Yesterday, I saw a large porch, the kind older homes had that was large enough for families to gather without an agenda and interact with those who passed by....
Much of the terror we see playing out in people’s lives today and the resulting panic they express is because truth is invading places of deception. The Lord said to the Israelites, that He would drive out their enemies little by little “until your population has...
This morning, as I read Exodus 20 and the laws of God, I noticed the first verse in the Lord’s declaration of His commandments, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery” (20:2). I have always gone right past that verse to the...
If we don’t know what’s happening in our world how can we love our neighbor as ourselves?
The borders of nations are beginning to shift. In the shifting the fulfillment of the word of the Lord will be revealed. It will be like looking at a globe sitting atop a desk and then seeing something new rising into our understanding and overcoming the past borders....
While Jan and I have always tried to watch our words, of late, the Lord is taking us to a deeper place. Every word of complaint we have about this life must first be examined to denote the source of our complaint. After the mighty miracles leading up to the crossing...
