As bizarre forms of evil parade across our culture and a mixture of spiritual deception, emotional brokenness, and mental instability seem to be taking center stage and are represented as truth, something else is happening. Clarity is coming. The more obvious it becomes that something is very wrong regarding the absurdity of what we are being asked, even demanded, to accept as the new norm, God has a redemptive plan in place that will bring clarity and hope.

There are nuggets of truth scattered throughout Scripture that when mined will reveal a clarity only God’s word can provide. One of those nuggets was written in the Psalms that we can apply to our lives today, “Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon” (Psalm 76:10).

Defiance to the will of God is nothing new. It is the ongoing manifestation of darkness that has prowled the earth since it first emerged in the Garden. The more blatant hell’s defiance of God and His truth becomes the clearer the difference between truth and error also becomes. 

Paul referred to this defiance when he wrote about Pharoah defying God and refusing to let the children of Israel leave the bondage of Egypt. “For the Scriptures say that God told Pharaoh, ‘I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth’” (Romans 9:17).  Just because the perpetrators of defiant evil are in positions of power does not mean they are out of the reach of God’s intervention. God will use their defiance to reveal His glory.

The devil has overplayed his hand. A new level of clarity regarding what is true is coming into focus like a set of binoculars adjusting a blurry image. This process of bringing clarity and focus will reveal images of God’s glory in places of deep and overwhelming deception where defiant attitudes have blinded people from seeing God’s original intent for all things. Part of the next Great Awakening will be a Great Refocusing that will reveal the glory of the Lord in places that appeared without hope. Hope is never absent when people are able to see the glory of God.
