The devil plays the long game. We, on the other hand, can become impatient wanting immediate results causing us to step out of line with God’s timing. Our impatience and lack of historical perspective are used by hell against us. Impatience is never a Kingdom strategy.
The Lord is capable of performing a miracle whenever it fits with His greater and more impactful plan than anything the devil attempts. It is all about aligning with God’s timing and arriving at a place of demonstration that will have a greater impact than we can imagine. We don’t need to know all the details. What we do need is to be faithful at the moment. We will never know which moment in the line of an unfolding history will be where a miracle will occur.
Acts 3 relates a miraculous healing that took place when Peter and John walked by a man who had been crippled from birth. It would be the first time they communicated with him. The crippled man was carried by friends each day to his preferred spot at the Temple entrance where he would beg. It was on that single day and in that moment when God chose to release the miracle. The Temples goers, Peter and John, the crippled man, and the friends who carried him each day to the Temple entrance each had a different personal timeline that brought them to the converging moment of the miracle.
Peter and John would have passed by the man each day and said nothing. On that eventful day, God spoke, and Peter was faithful in the moment to speak what the Spirit was saying, “But Peter said, ‘I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, get up and walk!’” (Acts 3:6). As was the norm in Acts, no prayer for healing was offered, just a command to rise and be healed – a command given to Peter by the Spirit to speak in that moment.
All the personal histories that converged on that day were used by God to set the stage for the miracle. You might ask, “Lord, what should I do today to make a difference?” The answer is to trust until you are asked to obey and then speak what the Spirit gives you without reservation or hesitation. Today may or may not be the day a miracle happens, but your trust and obedience to the word of the Lord will place you in the lineage of the miraculous.
This is very, very timely today in my circumstances. I will continue to trust God and wait for His perfect timing.
Thank you!
Awe man…Garris…really? I’m freakin bawling right now.
Background:
I was talking with my husband yesterday about our son Aaron who recently turned 16. He has cerebral palsy and an intellectual disability. He uses a wheelchair to get around.
Aaron had told me he didn’t like going to church because of the bible story where the friends of a lame man removed the shingles and lowered the lame man Infront of Jesus…and then the guy got healed.
He said…mom…I hate that story because I don’t have any friends to carry me to the rooftop. I hate church and don’t want to go back. I don’t belong there.
I am not joking…this was all brought up yesterday/last night.
As a mom that crushed me.
LAST NIGHT.
I had prayed overall these issues for years. I knew Aaron didn’t have friends and I had prayed for his healing too… but to hear Aaron say it like THAT just undid me in a whole new way.
You can imagine the heartbroken prayer that followed.
Thank you Garris for always being cautious of the words your release and typing just what the Father speaks.
you have no idea what this blog post means to me right now.
thank you
