No matter how well-informed one might appear, the New Year and all the events that transpire within its borders are still unknown. I am sensing that 2024 will provide more surprises than it will security.

Our trust in God will be our best ally when surprising and unexpected events upset our sense of normalcy. Before the calendar flips its page on Monday and reveals the New Year, we need to fortify and strengthen our trust in Jesus. It will serve us well when a sense of instability comes to visit, destabilizing the norm we thought was forever secure.

The writer of Hebrews informs us that “We are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken” (Hebrews 12:28). No matter what transpires within the calendar of the coming year, we can trust God with every uncertain detail.
