Obligation and Discernment

Learn the difference between obligation and discernment. Obligation can have you tied to things you need to let go of in order to make this transition. Discernment will invite you to see the new thing God has planned and will give you permission to let go of the past and embrace the future.

Obligation can become a tether that holds me to the ideas and routines of life that God wants to change as I consider a new future. Discernment is different. Discernment is a gift that reveals what I have not been able to see and invites me to envision something new.

If we allow the Spirit of God to develop in us the ability to hear his quiet whispers, we will be open to make the course adjustments needed to continue our journey forward. As you begin your transition, there will be many voices speaking to you. Some of these voices will be speaking from an obligation to your past. Learn to hear with the discernment that comes from knowing the voice of God. He wants you to be able to discern his invitation apart from all the obligations of life.
