For the last three days, I have been away from home speaking in two different locations, a men’s retreat, and a church. During both worship settings, those leading worship sensed the Spirit’s presence come in a very tangible way when they began to sing words attributing holiness to God. A shift took place in the atmosphere of the room. It was what we would imagine that is taking place in Heaven at this moment, “…and day and night they never cease to sing, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (4:8).

Both worship teams were sensitive to the Spirit and were not slavishly bound by a planned worship set. This allowed God the time and space needed to reveal Himself in a very real way and conduct the business of heaven in our midst.

Because of what the Spirit has been saying and how the events of history are developing, we need to experience the tangible presence of God. The Lord is calling His Church into moments of intimacy with Him that will prepare us for what is coming.

Of all the preparations we need to make regarding our future, knowing that the Holy One will be with us when our most astute forms of preparation may not be enough as our world spins out of control. Only by experiencing the presence of God before the troubles come will we know where to run in times of sudden and unexpected change.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1).
