This morning, I was reading in the Psalms that God’s favor surrounds us. For the last few years, Jan and I have asked God for a heart to receive His special grace in that moment when one of us leaves this world, and the other one must stay behind for a time. It is a grace we have not yet needed. 

I told Jan that if my death seemed premature, God’s timing is an act of mercy. There are reasons only He knows. There is a future only He can see. II Corinthians 12:9 is one of our life verses. He said: 

My grace is always more than enough for you.It is continuously sufficient. It is all you need. My power finds its full expression through your weakness. I rest upon you, overshadow you, and shelter you.

Here is my prayer for us.

Father, the same power that raised Jesus from death lives in us. In the power of your Name, Lord Jesus, we pray that we would be receptive to your favor that surrounds us. We receive your special graces as we run the leg of our race with endurance, be the answer to prayers from past generations, and fulfill the purposes you planned for us in our generation. Goodness and Mercy follow us all the days of our lives. And then there will come a day when we step into eternity and experience full peace and rest—dwelling with you forever.
