Recently, I was reviewing my relationship with Jesus. As a young boy, I understood His message and accepted Him as my Savior. I can still sense the beauty of that young and innocent faith. It became and still is the anchor point of my belief. 

Maturity in our faith stands on the simple, yet deeper understanding of the Law of Love. We don’t even need to read or write or have a higher education or hold some influential position to grasp the simplicity of God’s grace. 

God’s word tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So, do not be attracted by strange new ideas.”  (Hebrews 13:8-9). Peter used the example of not being led astray with all sorts of novel and exotic teachings  and getting obsessed over dietary rules, which have no lasting benefit. 

Don’t be robbed of the simplicity and beauty of grace. Be attracted only to His grace. Feast on His grace and be inwardly strengthened.

Jesus is the same at every point in time, no matter where we find ourselves. Because of His all-encompassing salvation, He will impact our yesterdays, our today, and our future. With Him, anything is possible. We can do nothing of eternal value without Him. 

We can go from a simple childlike faith in Him to a complex faith that takes a lot of human effort. My maturing has gradually deepened by remembering and returning to the simplicity of the grace-gospel:

By coming to Him with a childlike heart.

By recognizing my inability to make life work without Him.

By laying down my self-effort and striving to prove my worth.

By believing I move and breathe, and have my being only in Him. By believing this world is not my permanent home. Instead, I am looking forward to a home yet to come (see vs. 14).
