As a young pastor, an early mentor of mine, Roy Hicks, Jr. of Faith Center in Eugene, Oregon, shared the two signs of revival with a group of us. He said revival has two components – repentance and young faces.
The revival at Asbury University in Kentucky began when one young man stood before a chapel service and confessed his sins. Thus began a revival filled with young faces and hearts so on fire for God that they did not fear the risk of vulnerability. Other revivals are waiting to break out in congregations across our nation if we as followers of Jesus Christ will manifest the same courage of that young man at Asbury University.
Our nation desperately needs that kind of courage to be exhibited first within our own ranks. When that kind of revival takes place, it will change the course of history and bring times of refreshing for those who have grown tired and exhausted by a powerless expression of the Gospel.
“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19-20).
I googled: The revival at Asbury University in Kentucky / then selected: https://www.asbury.edu/about/spiritual-vitality/1970-revival/
