SLAVES OF DEBT

“The borrower is the slave of the lender” (Proverbs 22:7).

A deeper look into our national economic system provided by insightful analysts is telling us a major contributing factor to the future collapse of our economy will be our willingness to take on increasing levels of undisciplined debt.

The national debt clock reveals our nation is in debt to the tune of 31 trillion dollars and climbing. If each citizen in the United States were to chip in to help pay off the debt it would require that each person pay up $94,000.00. For a family of four, that would amount to $376,000.00. Do you see the insanity of what is taking place? This is not only happening with our government. It’s happening to the majority of the population drinking the same Kool-aid of insanity.

This is a spiritual matter more than a financial matter. The crippling effect of personal debt on believers is having the same effect on us as it is on our nation which lives in bondage to the lender. Many of these lenders do not reside within our borders. The issue of debt must be dealt with, or we will become slaves to a system of unbridled greed that will cripple the mobility of our faith to act and give as the Lord directs.

The advisors I am listening to are voicing a similar vein of advice. Get out of debt. Save to build up a reserve of finances so when a collapse eventually takes place, we will have options not available to those living in the stranglehold of debt.  Spiritually, this means that when a dramatic shift in culture takes place we will be free to bless and help those in need. It is the wisdom of Joseph.

There is not much time remaining for the survival of our falsely propped-up national financial system. We continue to take on increasing levels of debt without any restraint.

Those who are preparing spiritually for the future must buck this downward-spiraling trend of bondage by making tough decisions beginning to reduce their debt to finally become free from the control a lender exerts over a debtor.

When we finally become free from our self-imposed debtor prisons we will be led by the Spirit to a place of freedom, not to a slavish adherence to the payment schedule of our debt and our debtors. That freedom, when stewarded with integrity, will release levels of abundance for Kingdom advancement not imagined when we were still looking out from between the bars of our imprisonment.
