STICK WITH WISDOM

The Father imparts His gift of revealed truth to His sons and daughters who listen to His corrections. When we resist or refuse the wisdom these corrections bring, it is a sign that we don’t really trust anyone—even the Father. Trust was broken long before, and it doesn’t feel safe to our wounded hearts. We hold back, hesitant, using fear of disappointment to safeguard our sorrows.

But the Father’s corrections are not the harsh, unforgiving world of criticism, shaming, mocking, and unjust judgments. His wisdom corrects and adjusts our hearts when we remain faithful to His instructions. We will mature and gain discernment and understanding. Wisdom will protect us, rescue us, lead us to honor and favor, cover us with His glory-presence, and make us a victor in the race.

In King David’s last words, he said that the Spirit of the Lord spoke to him, saying: “The God of Israel said… he who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he will be like the light of morning at sunrise, like a morning without clouds” (II Samuel 23: 3-4).

David had humbly chosen to receive God’s corrections. He grew wiser as God imparted understanding to him. His son, Solomon, also wrote: “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until the full (perfect) day” (see Proverbs 4:1-9,18).

We quote that promise often. The clouds of deception will give way to clarity—shining brighter and brighter until we step into eternity. God is Wisdom, and In searching out the meaning of life, we should make wisdom our quest.
